Anybody out there know how to remove the glass from an RS mirror Pod ? I am going to paint one of mine but can't figure out how to remove the glass. Dosen't seem to pop off like the RT mirrors. Even our local shop in San Diego was clueless. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Jim............

Place a towel on a hard flat surface. With the mirror glass pointing down, take the mirror pod and SLAM that mofo down HARD. It's momentum will pop it out.

If you try to pry them out from the sides then they'll break half of the time. Slamming is the tried and true way.

goodness. every time there is a mirror thread all i hear is that you are to physically abuse your bike in ways that should get you jailed. clearly the mirrors were built like tanks and only look fragile.

OK Drake, I admit it, you know your stuff. I tried smacking the mirror about 10 times with no success, then I sprayed some WD-40 behind the mirror with one of those little spray nozzel dudads. wiggled the mirror around a bunch of times until it moved more freely and tryed the smack-it method again, one the second try it poped right out. I.m glad it did because I was about to try removing the keeper that holds the ball on. and if I would have done that I don't know how I would have ever got that keeper back in place. On with the sanding and painting.

Thanks again. Jim................

Hello!

I have found much less "slapping" requiring method. Remove turn signal indicator glass. Look under bulb reflector. One should see two spring wires and kind of metal ball. Use stiff, slat head screw driver to push on the ball and the glass will pop out.

Best regards
