Do I need to bleed the ABS modulator? Cheers, Terry. |
if you drained the modulator, yes.
it has a bleed valve on the top.
work from the longest point towards the brake lever. |

Hi, Terry,
When I rode K1100LT's, I never had any air in the system, so I only ever had to change the fluid, not purge the brake system of air. That said, each year I changed the fluid. I would bleed first at the modulator, then at the caliper. It didn't matter if I did fronts or rears first, but I did modulator first, then caliper(s). I do the same today with the K75's - all mine have ABS. _________________ Ride Safe,

Thanks guys, I sucked out the brake fluid at the calipers using the Mityvac, it removed a fair bit of fluid (not to mention little bits of rubber that had apparently come away from the insides of my lines.........) so there probably is air in the system, so I'll bleed the modulator, then work back to the calipers.
I love the new Mityvac, it's so much cleaner than my old "hose and bottle" system. Cheers, Terry. |

If your getting rubber bits from your lines, I'd suggest some new ones before you go too far.
If the lines are deteriorating and loosing pieces, that also means that they will be geting thinner and easier to swell under pressure or burst. _________________ Ride safe.

You must have missed my earlier post Scott, where I said I've just replaced all the lines with new braided stainless steel items from Motobins. The old OEM ones are now residing in my rubbish bin. Cheers, Terry. |
