Concours???? drikko, I think that just about every K1100 is ridden- just for the fun of riding. I am nuts about CLEAN, but no way would I ever want to enter a show with this P.O.S.
I can't imagine how much work it would take to get a typical K dressed up for concours. _________________ John & Cathy
Phil - if you can find Startron, it's better than Stabil. If you have ethanolated gas there, you want blue Stabil.
Hi, Jim,
Thanks. I read your message after returning from WallyWorld with the bottle of (red) Stabil and adding it to the fuel and going for a ride to distribute it into the injectors. Besides, WallyWorld had no Startron nor blue Stabil. I hope all will be well when he tries to start the bike in May when he wants to ride it home to Alaska. _________________ Ride Safe,

Hi Phil...
Hey thanks for that yeoman service.... now I'll have to thread the rod to the minimum length leaving the remainder of each as is. Someone here mentioned using pre-threaded rod but did not want to drag the aluminum over the exposed threads. I agree, that would tend to broach the aluminum which is why I chose to buy the 8mm rod unthreaded, cut to length what I need, and simply thread the ends.. Now if it'll just warm up a bit,, say to 15 degF or so, I'll start the project ! With the wind, the current windchill temp here in central NH is appx minus 33 degF..... a bit chillier up on Sugar Hill where John lives however.
best regards..............// Ernie-NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

Ernie & Jim-
Open offer- any time you want to spend a weekend day or both days turning wrenches on your bike in my WARM garage- let me know. I can even come and pick you and your bike up.
I probably have almost all the tools you would need (I am working on getting a lift) and I could even lend a hand.
Lemme' know. Beats freezing your fingers off.

Hey, can one of you dudes with the RS Desmo kit post a close-up pic of what the Desmo belly pan screws look like? I DIY'd my RS from a local screw supply place and was only able to get normal buttonheads for the belly pan. TIA _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Hi, All,
Ted, thanks for the info about blue Stabil. Unfortunately, I checked with the West Marine website and, as I had thought, there isn't one within 200 miles of El Paso.
John, I need to do the oil change and annual maintenance on my '94 K75A/3. When can you be here to pick me and the bike up so we can do the servicing in your heated garage? Mine is not heated, and it can get a bit chilly these days with the outside temperature only in the low 60's. We could have Jim and Sue and Ernie there, too. I could buy the lobster and Ernie had said something about bringing the makings for Irish coffee. _________________ Ride Safe,

Hi, Ernie,
I thought it implied pick-up AND delivery. I've ridden well down into the 20's, but lower than that is a bit much. Also, here, when it is in the 20's, if there hasn't been any precipitation recently, you can be fairly sure the roads will be dry. I have heated gear to keep ME warm; I don't have mounted flamethrowers to keep the ROAD warm and dry! _________________ Ride Safe,

Phil,
You didn't read the fine print.....
"Pickup and delivery is restricted to within the state of New Hampshire."
So if you want, I will meet you at the NH border . I don't recommend it today- right now at about 2:30pm it is all of 3 degrees F.

So I got a complete set of screws from these guys and the belly pan screws have quite a bit of clearance ie they don't squeeze the 2 parts of the fairing together. This is causing it to vibrate loudly at about 2700rpm. So I'm thinking there should be a rubber washer under them or between the 2 parts of the fairing. Anyone know what I might be missing? I might even go get 8 small but fat o-rings and put them on the bolt under the washer.
Any ideas? _________________ K1100RS '97

Mine are tight- look just like OEM. They did come with very thin rubbery washers but those wouldn't make a difference in tightening what you are experiencing.
But your O-ring idea sounds good. _________________ John & Cathy

You can send them a message through eBay. Just search for them there.
They shipped to OZ no problem. _________________ K1100RS '97
