In the process of removing the fairing, I unhooked the fuel line and a small amount came out, so fuel was reaching the delivery arm. However, when I turned the power on, the fuel pump cycled once but delivered no fuel. I tried capping the line with my finger and didn't feel anything being delivered down the line. I tried this several times, switching the power on and off but still nothing.
Where to go from here????? _________________ 1994 BMW K1100 LT

The Motronic should be sending a ground signal to the yellow/gray wire of each injector. Hook the plus side of the LED (their polarity makes a difference - if using just simple led then the longer wire is +) up to 12V+. Attach the negative of the LED to the yellow gray wire.
You're referring to the fuel line that goes right to the fuel rail, right?
You can try jumping the fuel pump. Disconnect the fuel tank connector and jump the brown wire to ground and the green/white to 12V+. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I have a two prong plug-in connector hooked to the fuel injector. I don't see any yellow/gray wires. The two prong connector is labeled +/-. I did connect that to the negative and the positive to the battery and got a solid light. No blinking.
On jumping the fuel pump, I don't feel like I know enough to push that. Is it something I can do outside of the gas tank or does it involve getting back into the gas tank to get to the pump itself????? _________________ 1994 BMW K1100 LT

Might as well test the positive side of the injectors as well while you have the connector off.
I was referring to jumping the fuel pump at the connector, not inside the tank.
There's a group of wires in a black tube that come out at the rear left of the tank and connect somewhere near the rear brake reservoir. It's a four lead connector. Brown, yellow, white and green/white wires. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Thanks...I'll give that a try first....Do I have to disconnect the gas tank to get at the wires?
On testing the fuel injector, do I connect the positive wire to the battery and the negative lead to the positive side of the two pin connector? Also, I assume I test it at the fuel injector, not the wires coming in.....
Thanks for your patience....

Micko,
You never said WHERE you live in Tucson. Did you ever read your PM? (Private Message)
You attach the LED with the - lead to the gray or - wire that feeds each injector. You can do this with a straight pin or slip some 30 or 31 Ga wire in the connector for one of the injectors. The + lead of the LED should go to 12V, preferably at the battery terminal.
If you try to measure the voltage on the injectors, they will ALL look like 12V on both connectors until you crank the engine with the starter motor.

UPDATE: Micko's fuel tank had about 3 gallons of varnish in it, the fuel pump was frozen and the new fuel lines were disintegrating in the disgusting varnish. He has the link for the Techron soak (it may work if there are no solid particles in the pump) and the alternate fuel pump replacement from the IBMWR. _________________ Mick McKinnon

Damn John,
You go and 'out' me in front of everyone here.
Love the C-14. It now has almost 4,000 miles on it.
It's the most fun I have had on a bike since my '83 Gpz1202 back in the early 80's.

Mick, I take it you went over and helped in person. You're a stud.
I'm surprised the fuel pump still made noise if it's seized.
The fuel pump I had was a pre-94. I think the key for the Techron soak is that if it still makes some noise then the electrics are still working and the armature is at least trying to rotate.
Micko: I've got a used fuel pump if you need one. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Drake,
Yes, the rollers only move about 1/8" in either direction and then
seize. It may respond to the Techron soak and I'd try that first. The
electrics are good.

21st Century is right, with about 160HP at the crank, it's a rocketship.....with great manners.

A BMW Tech with a Kaw, I don't know. Just kidding, I think if you're going another route, that's the way to go. You can still stop by if you ever pass through CD'A. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

Scott,
Thanks but I still have 3 BMW's and I'll probably always have my K1100LT.

Ron,
Might be discounted because the 2010 model has some needed updates- most important engine heat management to reduce rider broiling (sounds familiar?) plus heated grips and traction control.
Anything to add, Mick?
