Went for an awesome ride this morning, left at 6 to beat the searing heat, supposed to get to 35 here today (98 in F). Motley collection of bikes, for the locals, from Samford over the hill to Somerset, Kilcoy, Woodford for Breakfast, back over Mt Mee.
Tried taking some pics while riding, not very successful I'm afraid.
So the bikes were, mine, Buell 1200, Aprilia 650 Pegaso, BMW F800R, Suzi 650SVX I think.
Aprilia was surprisingly quick but the F800 just left all of us for dead. What an awesome motor that thing has! The owner of it has had a string of K100's and Rxxxxs including recently a R1000S, but says the F800 kills it. I can believe it now!
Anyway, being Australia day (kinda like your 4th July) it's time to get stuck into some cold beer and as Hoges would have said, throw another prawn (sorry, shrimp) on the barby.
Off to the pub _________________ K1100RS '97

Thanks for the pics!
And can I believe a 800 could beat a K1100??
35°C and a cold beer.....a great idea.

Re the F800, you should try one. I went for a ride on one a while ago. If I wasn't 6'3" I'd get one, but they are just a bit too small. The engine is FAB.
As for a cold beer, more like 20 of them

400 pounds of bike moves pretty well with 85hp. I usually don't take test rides but last year they had a red F800S demo sitting out at the dealer when I went to pick up some parts. Couldn't resist. Being used to my bikes I gave it a little to much throttle in a turn and picked the front end up mid-turn. I'm 6-2 and you're right about them feeling a bit small. Maybe it's a "girl's bike." _________________ 93 LT (x2)

OK, here I go again- either starting a hijack or contributing to one.
2 years ago Cathy and I took a short 2-up demo ride on an F800ST- immediately after the same on an R1200RT. Cathy felt like she had more passenger room on the F. I liked it and I am 6'2" also. _________________ John & Cathy
