Good morning all...
OK, hard to believe BUT Spring is almost here. I've had the battery out for winter as most of us in the north must do... so my question to all of you is: What to do BEFORE putting the battery back in, What to do after its in but BEFORE starting, and lastly What if anything needs to be 'reset' after a battery installation ??? Seems "trucker' or one of our UK Brickhedz mentioned resetting the 'throttle position sensor' within the ECU, or have I mis-remembered ?
Best regards all and THANKS in advance for any advice !

Ernie,
All I have ever done is turn the key- I may be committing some awful K atrocity- but it has worked for me.
While I keep my battery in and on the trickle charger (heated garage ) all winter, when I had to do my emergency clutch job last summer the battery was out for a week. Put it back in and started it up. No problems. _________________ John & Cathy

All that I have ever re-set has been the clock. If it is not a maint. free battery, make sure it is toppedoff with distilled water. Install and go! _________________ Doug

Turn the ignition on.
Doesn't hurt to run some Techron Concentrate through occasionally. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Hi, Ernie,
On later motronic models (R1100 and R1150, I think), you should turn on the ignition, then open the throttle fully, then close it fully, maybe twice. It is supposed to reset something. It's not necessary on my K75's and I don't believe it's necessary on the K1100. _________________ Ride Safe,

And check your blinker fluid too. That stuff can dry up if the bike isn't ridden regularly. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Hi Duck....
I have been trying to monitor my blinker fluid usage but the fill line keeps fluctuating with each flash! Other than 'fat wires' any hints ??
Best regards..........// Ernie-NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

Don't let the smoke out of the wires. It's difficult, if not impossible, to put it back into the wires! _________________ Ride Safe,

That may be the case for Bosch electrics, but Lucas did provide a resource for the replacement of the smoke - http://www3.telus.net/bc_triumph_registry/smoke.htm
Probably because the need for such is more prevalent amongst those whose electrical needs are serviced by the Prince of Darkness _________________ David, owner of:

AFAIK When the battery is disconnected, or the ECU unplugged. The ECU reverts to base mapping. If one does the "key on, open throttle fully & close" bit. The ECU has just been taught the TPS range, which it may never know if the rider sticks to speed limits. Therefore assisting the ECU to it's job more efficiently. Could of course be BS. _________________ Regards Tim,

I throw in some marine Sta-Bil for the first two tank fulls to help get rid of any moisture that may be in the tank from sitting for the winter. _________________ Rich
