| I'm running Metzler Roadtec Z6's on my K1100RS. I'm heavy...230 - 240. I usually run them at the max pressure on the sidewall (42psi) and like the way they feel, but they also usually end up with the center section of the tire worn flat. Any opinion on tire pressures? |

Jay - what kind of riding do you do? Is it mostly freeway? That'll wear out the centers. Try letting 2 or 4 pounds out of each tire. That might even out the wear. I don't know about the Z6's - some of the new touring tires have a harder center compound that doesn't wear as fast - and a softer, stickier compound on the sides for traction. _________________ Jim

| More freeway than I would like to admit...but I use the bike as a daily driver in the summer...so yeah. Maybe I'll try them at 40psi for a while and see what happens. Thanks. |

I've always kept my front at 34 and rear at 36 with just me riding with no bags. If I have full bags I run 36 front and 38 rear. I don't believe the Z6s use multiple compounds like some of the other tire manufacturers do. I just picked up a set of Z6 interacts and they don't use multiple compounds they use their new steel belt technology to change the dynamics of the tire to get even wear. _________________ Rich

Over-inflating tires will cause center wear. I have the typical left side wear issue, and I run on the high side, 38 front and rear. If 42 is recommended my the tire maker it should be OK and not the cause of your center wear. My guess would be straight line riding more than tire inflation. _________________ 1997 K1100LT
