I just bought a K1100 as my buddy rides one, but not any more. His wife took the bike for a ride and lost it on a curve. His wife is ok except for a bruised arm (Joe Rocket jackets do work). The bike however needs a new front end, and possibly more. It flipped end over end before it landed in a ditch.

It's parked in my garage and we plan to try and fix it. Forks are bent and possible damage to the triple tree. Our plan is to remove the fairing and have a look at everything. Of course the bike won't start, but turns over. Suspect oil got into the fuel injectors. Frame looks ok.

Any suggestions where to search for parts?

With the amount of work, time, uncertainty and $$ involved you might be better off just getting another one and using that one as a parts bike.

I suggested that to him but he's bent on fixing this one. Once he finds out the prices for parts he may change his mind !!!

Pshaw - I say REBUILD! After all, it is his cash Wink

Seriously, you can get that sucker going again with some time and effort looking for good, used parts. The main fairing piece can be had for as little as $150 if you look around - check out the good, used parts places like KBikeParts.com, Re-Psycle.com, and beemerboneyard.com; eBay, IBMWR.org, MOA classifieds, and Craig's List. And check back frequently.

Be nice to keep one more on the road.

I'd be supprised if the main frame wasn't also a little twisted after an end over end episode.

By the way, anyone else amazed that the headlight lens seems to have made it through without even a crack?

no. i've dropped tvs from the early 90s and they made it too. and as that is just a small tv it should pretty much survive a nuclear apocalypse. Wink

now, a zombie apocalypse? it wouldn't be worth much or last very long.

I have an set of forks for sale here. Might even have a set of trees but I am not sure of that part. I have a center faring but it is has been repaired but shipping on it can get costly. I also have a set of mirrors. I might have more I just need to look. Realize the center faring from 1985 K100RT all the way up to 1997 K11LT is the same. Same with the mirrors. I am selling off alot of my spare parts so let me know what you need. I have a head light assembly also if your is cracked.

Damage is not as bad as we thought. Bike still starts and shifts ok. Local shop can repair the front fairing. This is what we need:

front forks
triple tree
right mirror
right rear signal light

There's lots and lots of bolts/screws in the fairing. We took digital pics of everything.

OK I have the forks (lower legs and tubes in good shape. I would suggest new fork seals. I have the mirrors. and I belive I have the right rear turn signal. Didnt fint the triple trees yet but will look more tomorrow. I think the fairing might need more work then you think once it is off the bike. I have one here that has been repaired but looks good. Shipping is costly on parts that big but just keep it in mind if yous is not worth fixing. I will get a few pics of it if interested. Give me a call if you want.

Here's a radical idea for a front end, if you have the pennies that is. I believe the complete kit costs around 40,000 Swedish Kroner, which will translate to around $5,000.00. http://www.isrbrakes.se/products/ns2/

Then again you could easily buy another bike for that, but think of you're radical new styling.... just a thought.
