I'm converting my K100 2-piston front brakes to K1100 4-piston. Having purchased the calipers used, one has come with a bleeder valve as shown in the photo below:

The bleeder valve on this caliper is unusual and, silly as this may sound, I'm unsure about its operation. For example, it's not obvious to me as to how to connect a vacuum bleeder hose. Should I replace this valve with a normal one? Hmm, I feel silly asking these questions as this should be simple.

Can't say as I have seen one like that before.
It's up to you.
If you feel better working with the older style bleeder valve then change it.

You can always put it back if you figure out what it is.

Please let me know how the conversion goes. I have a few K100s here and I have a few sets of K1100 calipers. Are there any other parts needed like spacers or other modifications,

Ron

That caliper has been assimilated by The Borg.

I'd replace them with speed bleeders. I have them on two bikes and really like them for bleeding the calipers and changing the fluid.

I took the majority's advice and replace the strange bleeder with a normal one. Thanks; life is simple.

Hi Ron, I'll do taht. I'm presently writing up a small manual with pictures and description of everything I'm doing. I'll make that available to the group when it's done. This work is part of a larger project to convert my RS to an RT and I will document that process as well. I have seem a similar brake conversion document on flyingbrick.de but since they moved and reorganized the site, I can't find it any longer.

Yea, it's a shame that they couldn't save/transfer any of the old posts to the new site format. Even the search engine doesn't work anymore on the old site. Sad
