Gradually working through the bike to get rid of the various clatters.
Every little helps, but with each bit I make quieter, the rest sounds louder!
The main worry now is a clutch/gear or something clatter which happens when I'm pushing at low revs. It's the sort of noise a car makes when you try accelerating in too high a gear. Typically when turning a corner in 2nd then pulling away.
Before I pull anything apart, has anyone else had this ("they all do that") or does anyone recognize what it might be?
I meant to put this in Tech. Please move Mr. Mod! _________________ K1100LT 99 Ex Police

Same here,
Depending on how slow you are slowing down to before you enter the turn, I thinking also that you may be lugging it. _________________ Ride safe.

Err.. lugging it?
Does that mean pulling in too high a gear?
It makes the noise if I hold on the brake and ease out the clutch a bit whilst standing still.
No other bike I've had has done it.
There again, no other bike I've had has been anything like a K1100!

Well mine does it every time I pull off, to ride up the drive into the garage. But then again, so did my K100 & the previous 2 K11's.
IMHO, it's because the K crank drives a balancer shaft through gears, the clutch in on the balancer, the noise is the gears taking up slack.
Next time I'm oop north or you're int Midlands, we'll compare noises _________________ Regards Tim,

When rolling out in first, mine occasionally makes a noise similar to the ABS initialization which I used to think was a bug in the ABS system but now not so sure. _________________ Jim
