Okay chaps; just picked up my first brick yesterday (as per my post in the pics section it's a 93 rs) I can't believe how good this bike is and will post furher pics once cleaned and fettled.
However first some advice from you:
I've adjusted the handlebars upwards slightly which seems to fit me better - may sound stupid this but will i have any problems in doing this?
I would like to mount my zumo 550 and despite searching for info have not seen anyone utilise a brake reservoir RAM mount - anyone any experience or new alternative idea's?
Anyone with an rs fitted a comfort seat from Motobins (UK Specific) and are they any good or has anyone had there seat reshaped/covered - thoughts would be appreciated on design/shape (anyone in the world)
Has anyone had a replacement/higher screen from Skidmarx in the UK; can't find any pics at the moment
http://www.skidmarx.co.uk/
Well thanks in advance from a convert

Re the GPS, there's a whole thread on it. Type GPS into the search engine and you'll find this thread:-

I've gone the clutch side route as well and it works well. It's easier to use the left hand to do stuff. _________________ K1100RS '97

Greetings Andy,
First thing I did with my K11 was to raise the bars (Commando Rider too) done it on all 3 K11's, some 60K miles later, I don't believe doing it has ever caused any problems.
As for seat, I have a Corbin. But you could contact motorcycle seat works, Bradford IIRC to have them work their magic.

Thanks Tim; i've had a corbin seat on previous bike and very good it was - just don't want to spend new £.
I assume you've used motorcycle seat works before; i'm not that far from Bradford so may pop along and see them. There is also a chap called Tony Archer in HuddersfieldI'll who does the same so may visit both as they are close to one another.
Cheers

|
|
Hi All
Re the mounting of my Zumo 550 - Forgot i had a brake fluid mag mount cover in my garage (was for an RT1200 but never used) Had to buy some new bolts and drill out the plastic spacers a tiny bit but otherwise fitted without problem and works quite well; pics attached
Regards
Andy
Side view showing gap between brake fluid resevoir and mag mount; the gap is bridged with small plastic spacers:
Top view showing four bolts and overall positioning:
How it looks from seated position; actually works well in that is still in line of vision but doesn't obstruct any clocks other than temp gauge which can still be seen with slight movement of head. No conflict with mirrors either:
And finally - just in case anyone comments on the zumo screen shot (well it's the wife and here is a better view)
I'm getting on very well with the bike; once fully sorted i'll post pics and comments on what i've done.

K1100s don't have tool boxes under the seat so ABS I bikes will accommodate a seat that has the pan sticking down into the frame. Only 2 valve K100s and K75s had a toolbox under the seat. (low seat models didn't have them though) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

You may need to channel Eleanor of Aquitaine or Richard the Lionharted to confirm how the seat will actually fit on an 1193 K11 _________________ 1993 K1100LT (Washington)

Well.........actually Bruno III of Berg, with his German connections, was the man to help but he died suddenly so i turned to Albertus Magnus, also German but he was a little bit inexperienced so got nothing intelligent out of him - in the end tried Richard but some bloke called Leopold V Duke of Austria told me to get lost and Richard wasn't available - As for Eleanor; she was a women and what do women understand about comfortable seats (much lol even as i type) |
