|
|
I have a 94 K11LT and I am looking to put passenger armrests on the bike for my sig other (she fractured her tail bone last year). Having armrests would help her off-load from her bum from time to time.
I was thinking about refitting ztechnik or GG armrests for the K12LT and I noted some Kuryakyn armrests for a Goldwing that looked to be a simple design and easy enough to make custom brackets to go on the sides the trunk (with additional internal reinforcements) or on the luggage rack.
Has anyone else out there tried to make armrests?

The big design flaw of the LT is the plastic rack the supports the top case. I doubt it will last long if you support the armrests from the top case. So if you're going to implement some sort of armrest I'd recommend mounting them to the frame somehow - maybe to the bag rail mounting points. Or maybe get a more solid metal tail rack fabricated.
You might also want to look into having some seat customization done to redistribute her weight from the tailbone. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Didn't Gui (drmalacarne) post a thread on how he "beefed up" his rear rack?
That might be another idea to investigate if the oem LT rack isn't able to handle the stress. |
