I'm not at all sure that TotD is the place to be passing on a double yellow - although I'm sure it happens all the time.

I have passed on a double yellow when the situation warranted - but only on a straight stretch.

This video has been around for some time. Seeing what there is to see on the video, the way the rider handled the situation, I'd say he's definitely a novice rider. What's the term...he possibly became "fixated" on the straight path and didn't throw his bike into the turn away from the drop off shoulder. Hope he wasn't too banged up.

I've seen this one before. If I'm in a car creeping along on some curves I'll pull over for faster vehicles. Maybe the rider was following them for miles and finally snapped.

Saw a much faster version happen behind me about 25 years ago.

Living in Iowa at the time, Cathy & I 2-up on our '81 Honda 900F returning home after a day long ride. We were riding on the east side of the river coming back from the Wisconsin Dells.

Passed a couple of H-D riders going in the same direction. Guess 1 didn't like it and he sped up to catch me. I kept up the speed through some tight twisties and saw him in my mirrors as he way overcooked a corner and ended up in the cornfield.

That youtube video reminds me of Iowa every time I see it.

Stunts like that happen often at Deal's Gap, mostly with sportbikes.
