Hi
Are there any way to test if the gear indicator at gearbox are gone or in dashboard like grounding pins in the connector near the battery.
Seen that it has a 2^n chema like 1'st 001 2'nd 010 3'rd 011 4'th 100, fifth 101 and neutral 000.
Would a disconnected gear indicator give a neutral light. |

No. All three wires must be grounded for the neutral light to be lit. If they aren't grounded then the gear indicator circuitry does not light the N light nor does it provide power to the start button. It is most likely designed this way on purpose to prevent a bike from being started in gear with the clutch engaged. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Thanks for the tips.
We took the connector apart and measured between the pins on the gear indicator side.
Seems ok with <1 Ohm at closed connection according the the diagram. ( all tree shortned at neutral ).
Then tested the indicator in the instrument cluster by using jumpers at the connector. Worked perfect according to the diagram.
A bit of thinking.
Then measured the ohm over open connector and one was appr. 20kohm and the others 220 ohm. There it was. Bike are now in a heated garage to see if it makes any difference.
A Q can the indiciator be repaired?
Will order a new indicator tomorrow.
PS. it's not my K11 this time ( nock nock ) it's a fellow rider who rode my bike and now bought his own. And I will only advise him how to wrench from a chair with a beer in my hand.
Should we take any photos? |

Always take pix - they're worth at least a thousand words each. _________________ Jim
