Its all ebays fault, I have a 1986 k100rs and i have just bought a pair of k1100lt wheels to fit it, The front is deffo` going on so I will run a 110/80/18 but on the rear I have a 18x4.5 with a 160/60/18 already.

I have noticed that a lot of you on this site use a 150/70/17 on the rear, the 160/60/18 are quite expensive and I`m unsure as to which rim to run.

The 160/18 has lowered the gearing a bit from 130/90/17 days and the 150/70/17 would bring most of this back-a nicer dilemma than the usual so which to run?

Answers not on a post card but here please.

Ray

What are you going to do about the front brakes? (Notice they are different brakes and mount differently.)

You're running a 4.5 rear wheel on a 1986 RS? Does it clear the monolever swing arm?

Front brakes, may get k11 rs or lt forks or a lump of metal and bash it and drill it!!

The rear fits with no issues apart from removing the rear caliper to fit the wheel each time and using a mallett to persuade the tyre past the abs ring and exhaust, I removed the abs disc and the ridges on the disc mount( angle grinder) I also took the whole of the abs off of the bike, there were no cleareance issues with it fitted though.

Do you need to remove the caliper on the k11 to remove the wheel?

I have Staintune exhausts on my K1100s. (Both have RS rear wheels.) The easiest thing for me to do is pull the exhaust can off.

If you install K1100 forks then you'll also need K100RS4V or K1100 fork trees as the 2V/4V forks are different diameters.

Actually Duck - talking of just the wheel / bevel drive clearance, both the 5" and 5.5" [k1200 and r1150 respect. ] clear the monolever. I know someone on your site has fitted the 5" without problems [?] on a stock bike - which mine patently isn't!

The 5.5 will physically fit, but requires the use of the relevant disc [ attached to rim ] and caliper.

I'm still working on the front! K1100RS forks complete with trees and the latest looks like being the K1100 wheel spindle machined to suit the smaller wheel bearings.

I have a similar problem fitting the wire spoked wheels to my K100 cafe Racer. [ R1150GS] - rear wheel fit is OK, but I might use the para rear end for simplicity. I have the same deal at the front as with the Streetfighter.

Despite my optimistic predictions, it seems that the projects are now destined to hit the road next year !!!
