They were spaced out a bit and approaching a somewhat blind right hand hairpin. I would've passed 'em for sure if I'd had the room to do it safely.

Nice straights. Any curves? (just pullin' your leg Laughing) Those roads look awesome. Great video. Thanks.

Drake, you have to ask Rydor about a few turns he took us on at HM III Shocked

That's definitely one of the top ten roads in the US I'd say. If it's open (it's snowed in most of the year given the 10k+ elevation) and you hit it on a weekday there is very little traffic.

Duck:

That was, I think, the upward ride from the park; did you do one on the other side? There's a world of difference between the two, I think: I was fine (for my age) going up that side, but I tended to walk the K12 down the other side.

I've done both sides both ways this summer. Rode it "down" (southward) on my way to Hungry Buffalo in July and then "up" (northward) from Yellowstone as you see here in August. It's ALL good. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I agree that it's all good, but I found the ride down to Red Lodge more "challenging" than the ride up from the park: perhaps it was because I didn't know what I was getting into as I rode up; by the time I rode down (and I was riding two-up on the K12 with Felicity on the back) I was intimidated.

There's the possibility that I'll get to do it again solo next spring/early summer solo on the K11; that'll be different.

Yeah, I'd agree that riding down to Red Lodge 2-up is not something you'd want to ride "aggressively."

But it was a beautiful afternoon and we enjoyed it--even though I'd probably have made better speed if I'd walked it down Laughing

Drake, that was so very S-W-E-E-T!!!
I loved your lines and 'seeing' you roll on the throttle coming out of the turns.

Damn Crusiers. Laughing

Thanks, babe. You know that it CALLS to you. Razz

The really freaky part is that there was no snow. I've done it quite a few times now and this is the first time that everything was bare.

I need to ride it more though, like Hwy 1, because the only thing that beats riding a great road the first time is riding it the Nth time, when you KNOW every turn and how to ride it.

I've never ridden it on my RS. Now THAT would be fun. But I've gotta admit that half the fun of riding in MT in the lack of a helmet law which makes chit like that even more special to me. I won't ride the RS sans helmet though - not enough protection from bugs and such.

Canon SD850IS. I made my own camera mount for it, (Link below.) I did't do it on this video but it stays more stable if I put the windscreen down and brace the camera against the windscreen with some foam earplugs as little cushions.

I've tried putting tape over the mic to keep the wind noise down but that doesn't seem to help much so I just get rid of the audio and dub in some music with Windows Movie Maker.

My GPS/camera mount: http://smithduck.home.comcast.net/~smithduck/bmw/tech/tomtom_mount/gpscameramount.htm

If global climate change keeps Beartooth open longer then I'm all for and glad neither of my bikes has a cat anymore. Laughing
