The only really "bankable" accessories for these bikes are high end rear shocks and OEM things like BMW luggage and heated grips. Aside from that, it is all about condition and maintenance. If this bike has had all services (and I mean all, such as new brake fluid every single year of its existence, coolant every other, etc.) at a reliable dealer with complete hard copy paperwork to back it up, as well as being in absolutely pristine condition meaning not a single scratch, even the most minor of dent, paint and bodywork in "as delivered" condition, has BMW OEM options including heated grips and full luggage (with liners, all in equally pristine condition), and if that rear shock is the correct Ohlins in excellent condition - then I could see this bike getting upwards of $6.5k though it would probably be a while before buyer found seller. With newer, nice K1200RS bikes now regularly in the $5,000 to $6,000 range it would still be a tough sell.

Accessories too numerous to list.

I can see the Ohlins but you'd better list the rest if you're going to ask $7,500. Shocked

Dealers sell K1200RSs in that mileage range for $5kish.

And I'd be willing to bet that my RS has more mods/accessories.

I anticipate a long time on the market for this bike.

I know that the LT and the RS are for two different uses, but I'm astounded by the differential between the LT being offered in Indianapolis for $2500 and this bike.

As a senior hoarder, I'm going for the mid-range, happy with the purchases I've made around $3K, though I wish it were summer and I were free to go "home" to Wisconsin and take a side-trip to Indianapolis.

Good condition modern K1200S bikes ("wedge" engine) are going for just over that price- 10 years newer.

IMHO, I agree that it will sit unsold for a while- unless someone REALLY wants it.

I wouldn't mind a B&S Special Edition RS to match my LT Special Edition. But I don't really have room for it. And I wouldn't pay over $5k or so for that bike. It may be relatively low mileage, but it's still almost 15 years old.

Just to satisfy my urge to make an incomprehensible joke: one of my Army Reserve units was located in Hayden, and I often wondered if it was a bastion of hippie liberalism, given the "militia mentality" often attributed to the area (though a couple of my soldiers from that unit died in combat). So maybe this is a fund raising effort?

Sorry, it's the end of the week...

Larry, Hayden was the heart of the Aryan Nation movement until civilized people ran them and their founder, Richard Butler, out a few years ago.

A couple of his guards shot at some people outside the compound gate and the ensuing lawsuit bankrupted his sorry ass into oblivion. Very Happy

My Physical Security guys made special investments in the security systems protecting the arms room--where the unit's weapons were stored--at the Hayden Lake facility. Never had any problems but the threat preoccupied many. (This was from 2002-2007.)

Just thinking back...
