I took off the luggage rack (trunk-mounting portion) on my 97 LT and I would like to put the passenger handgrips back on the tailsection. I'm sure RS passenger handgrips should bolt right up, but before I commit, can anyone confirm this for me?

They're all the same from any K75, K100 or K1100.

Speaking of which, do the luggage rails for the saddlebags serve any structural or anti-vibration purpose? I don't have or want saddlebags, and I think the bike would look a lot cleaner without them.

Take them off Dave, they are only there to hold your side boxes in place, nothing more nothing less. No need for the boxes, no need for the mounts.

It will also make your bike lighter and faster, which will help you as it seems that you don't have a mystic red RS, which is as everyone knows the fastest colour. Cool

Brilliant! I have removed them, and the lowered weight may be just the edge I need to get past those pesky red bikes. I was fixing to remove a piston or two to lower the weight and gain some speed, but this way is much better.
