Beautiful country and some great roads in that part of the world. Did you also ride the Cherohala Skyway? _________________ "I don't believe in the after life, although I am bringing a change of underwear." - Woody Allen

I still think the Dragon is way over-rated. There are a ton of great roads in that area that don't get the same publicity and are nice and empty most of the time. The dragon is crowded and attracts too many idiots. Its nice to say you did it, which I have, but I have no desire to do it again. The Snake in Tennessee is getting the same way, but it is still not quite as bad. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Agreed that The Dragon is overrated but you've still gotta do it when you're in the hood just to have ridden it. Lots of great riding around there. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Of course I got a t shirt and a raised up,oval black dragon decalfor the bike.
We rode on sat.the 9th,one day before my 49th birthday! _________________ 1995 k1100lt daily ride(22953)when I got it

When Paul & Darryl (a.k.a.- the Kiwis) left Hungry Mother III in May they were headed down to the Blue Ridge.
They really appreciated the smooth roads after having been through New England (^^^^^^^^^ ). _________________ John & Cathy

My friends and I did the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway on thursday. The only reason I did the Dragon is to say I did it. Too much work. There were other roads that were more enjoyable. Saw the Tree of Shame, bought a shirt and a Dragon sticker. Perfect riding weather the whole time we were there. Took in the Wheels museum also. A lot of info to absorb in a couple hours. _________________ "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges"!
I like the social aspect of riding. Rally's, socializing, drinking beer, fartin' and carrying on.

As FD said, check out http://killboy.blogspot.com/.
Pages and pages of interesting bikes, cars, people and other stuff going on down there. Lots of folks out there without a clue on how to ride SAFELY.
"Killboy" (plus his wife and two other photographers- on his site alone) make their living by capturing lots of action on the Dragon.
Makes you happy to have a bit more ground clearance than a H-D, huh? _________________ John & Cathy
