Does the Oil Warning Lamp run through any other relay?? or is it direct from the switch under the water pump to the instrument cluster, Mine has been intermittent for quite some time, but have found that latley it will come on after turning the key on/off 3 or 4 times, but only because I needed to do some work to the Starter and some of the relay under tank area????? I want it to work 100% of the time, just to be sure?

Does the light flicker under hard excelleration, then go back out when you lit up on the throttle? _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

I have a couple of lamps that act that way as well.
An abs lamp on one bike and a backround LED on the other.
I think it's just bad connections.
I usually can give the abs light a thump and it starts working again.
The led not lighting is another issue. I can thump it till the cows come home and it still only works when it wants to. _________________ Ride safe.

No relay. Could be as simple as a loose bulb. It could also be a wiring issue. When you have the tank off look for the wire that comes up with the HES wires and terminates at a square white single wire connector. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

As bulbs age they can get finicky, intermittently working and flickering. This can also be caused by surface corrosion on the bulb and in the bulb socket. I tore the whole back end of my old K75 apart once trying to find a brake light fault only to finally realize the "new" bulb I had put in, from an 8-year old c.1987 BMW bulb kit kept in the tail cowl and subject to around 50k miles of associated bumps, knocks and vibration, was itself faulty.
If you do tear into the cluster consider upgrading to LED lights, the cost is quite reasonable and the results quite nice. _________________
