Yeah I tried both, didn't make any difference. When you have it in test mode the little light should flash faster as you rev the motor up or down, it didn't no matter what coil wire I stuck it on.

Still it works ok without it Very Happy

Yeah, probably not a big deal since either brake switch will cut it off. On a car you only have one brake switch so if that fails.... but on a bike you've got two.

Ok so I need to get this straight cause I'm about to buy a unit to replace my old stuffed one.Duck says it's got the blue wire but Drikko is saying it does'nt work' forgetting the blue wire if you don't hook up to the coil where are you getting the info that allows the unit to control throttle speed,are you tapping the speedo sensor? Question

confused as the old unit was only connected to the coil Question

Duck did you do a follow up on fitting the electronic unit in the stickies as I remember you looking at fitting it a while back. Hanging as I miss my cruise cont on long runs Cheers AUSBRICK

Back again , can't seem to find a 250-1223 for sale they all seem to be 250-1336 for manual models any clues on where to get one.

Thanks for the reply scott . I have since figured out that the250-1223 is the rostra no and 250-1316 is the audiovox no for the same unit but I'm still trying to figure how the wiring goes on the new non vaccum units.I managed to download a fitting instruction manual for one but it only suggests useing the magnet kit where there is no vss. My guess is that the vss wire connects to either the speedo sensor or the tacho . Anyone out there with a wiring diagram of how to hook it up on a k1100.It would be much appreciated and probably belongs in the stickies as many more souls will want to fit them as there vaccum units pack up.Cheers

I can tell you this, the Tach wire is tapped into the coil(cyl 1,4) wire at the multipin plug(under the seat) for the computer. Thats where I connected mine up at on both bikes.
The Speedo cable goes direct from the pickup at the final drive to the inst cluster, it's just a 2 wire connection.
You could try both and see which one works best.

Thats correct, the VSS wire goes to either side of the pickup. This and the brake light wires tap into the brake and speedo pickup under the right hand sidecover. Coil under the left.

Thanks guys thats pretty much how I thought it must go thanks for the help I can now go ahead and get an electric unit, thought about a replacement vaccum body but its almost cost's as much as the newer unit , hope it lasts longer than the ccs100 I had it only went for 12 mths or so and didn't get that much use in that time. I've pulled it completely apart and can't find anything wrong done all the tests that the manual suggests. It powers up, all tests show control pad to be working , vac diaphram not damaged, tested all wiring with multimeter no breaks in wires, it was working fine then started intermitant fails on a few runs then nothing.Have inspected Printed curcuit board everything looksgood also tested the 3 solonoid valves that control the vaccum all ok . I've given up gonna be pissed off if I have trouble with the new one. Cheers. Mad Brick Mick Twisted Evil

Spurred on by your mucking around I went out and did some maintenance including seeing why my 1223 has stopped working. All the switch signals seem OK so I can only assume the brain is dead. So I'm not happy either! I'll get another one for the Laverda and swap it into the K to see if that's what it is. I wonder if it's worth sending back under warranty!

It's certainly worth a try let me know how you get on .Warranty claims can be tricky More so with an overseas supplier. PS Hope your feet are dry up there that flooding looks horiffic from what I've seen on the box. cheers and all the best with the big damp. Ausbrick Mick

My LT cruise is zip-tied to the main fairing bracket in front of the left bucket with a loop in the throttle cable. Been working fine for 30,000+ miles.

Rich, both of mine are located under the seat on top of the abs unit.

Aus.. and Drikko, I had intermittent problems this year

1st was that my rear brake pedal was saging and causing the brake light to stay on occasionally and thus disabling the cruise at the same time.

2nd, found my vac check valve had split causing a vac leak.

Replaced the check valve, gave the brake system a good flushing and pivot point cleaning and all has been well since.
