|
|
I bought several pairs of these insoles a few years ago because they were only $10/pair. They're made to run off of 8 D cells which fortunately is 12V. The only problem with them is that on full they are way too hot. I have a set that I rigged to hook up to my dual Powerlet controller but all of that stuff is with my LT down in CA.
I wanted to go up to my cabin without freezing my toes off since it's still in the lows 40 here. So I decided to build another set of using ones using a pulse width modulator like I used to do the variable heated grips on my LT, a little black metal project box and a Powerlet plug. VOILA! Now I have another set of heated insoles:

Sorry to be unappreciative of your weather, I'm sitting in front of the biggest damn storm this year and waiting for the 14" to 20" of snow predicted to snarl things up a bit.
I could use such an item in my personal snow removal machinery, could you point me to the thread where you detailed the PWM's previously?

drikko,
You gotta' experience how feet feel after a couple of hours of 0 to 5C at 80-100kph.
Actually after a couple of hours of 0 to 5C at 80-100kph I cannot feel my feet.
Nice mod, FD. Been thinking of doing something similar. _________________ John & Cathy

By the way, that reminds me. It was nice when they added the electric windscreen to the LT/RT fairing but where they messed up was on the side panels. On the K75/K100 LT/RT fairings they sides went down far enough to provide wind protection for your feet. Not so on the K1100LT.
I did see an Iron Butt LT (now owned by Larry) where the guy added some flaps to the LT to provide foot protection. A worthwhile mod if you ask me. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Whilst cruising you can lift your toes and tuck them in a bit to just above the exhaust heatshield and by the clutch cowl on the other side. Helps a bit _________________ Bikes:
