Question is about Progressive brand (1126) springs...they are larger diameter than stock. So that you can't use the upper sleeve over the spring, inside the tube. (said they were for 16V K-bikes)

It looks as though you may not need to...? Just install with spacer/washer and leave the sleeve out. Will that work ok, or adversely "hang up" the top of the spring on the inside of fork tube.?

The seals are the pryamid..10mm, too thick, will get the 8mm and file down...

thanks for any advice about the spring situation...the stock springs probably are fine, i just thought an 'upgrade' would be good, but maybe not.

Thanks

Don't waste you time. BTDT didn't work

Spend the extra $ and get the BMW oem seals. You won't regret it.

Got the BMW OEM seals...they work/fit as intended. Unless you have a way of seating them (special tool), removing fork tubes from tree seems necessary to get access to pound the seal all the way into the slider with a 1.5" PVC pipe union as a driver.

As much force as it takes to 'seat' the seal, makes me wonder IF you could use the cheaper. thicker seals (Pyramid), without even putting the circlip back...its just dead space between seal and dust cap--maybe it would'nt properly fit tho'--with the thicker seal.

Dissassembly of fork is much easier off the bike, those bottom bolts are difficult.

On to TB synching and some leaky fuel line connection, removal of a non-working stereo (which is not possible to really hear with a helmet anyway)...then its done. Oil/water pump, till its dripping on floor, its...ok.

I put in a Works Performance spring set last year.

Wow oh wow what a diff it made.

Those big internal tubes would not fit over the new springs on mine either.

No sweat, works great.

You did put on the fork boots right?

Single spring.
I was a bit nervous about the kit, but the ride improvement was astounding.

Scratch that.
What Drake posted is EXACTLY what I installed.
I had a single spring in the bike.

That kit is the bomb!

I was just wondering because I picked up a set of those Pro Series ones for my LT since one of the forks is leaking and figured that would be a good time to install them. (Haven't done the seal yet - swapped in another set of forks in the interim.)

Maybe I'll call the guys at WP and see if they have any valuable input as to how the the spacers should be.

OEM fork seals can be replaced with ARI product - top quality with proper grease in the set box.

Best regards

Post fork seal replacement test ride:

much much better with new seals and complete clean out, re-oil of forks... the seals must 'tight' enough to hold oil and air? to work properly...bike is noticeably more firm in the front end. (it only has 19,500 miles on it, but father time must wreak havoc on rubber, oil/water pump seals are next)
