I took my 97 LT out for a short run in preparation of returning to a normal routine of commuting to and from work. Rode about 30 miles, no problem. Just as I pulled in the garage there was a total loss of coolant onto the garage floor.
Good thing - it happened at my house, not on some two lane road in the country where I had been.
Bad thing - no commuting till I determine the cause and correction.

I assume i will have to pull the fairing to get a better look and feel for the real problem. I hope it is as simple as a seal. Still a bit of a job, but shouldn't cost too much. _________________ Older but not old

The radiator cap is under the right front of the tank. No fairing work involved.
1) Remove seat.
2) Remove clips on posts at rear corners of tank.
3) Pull rear of tank up and then pull tank back.
Radiator cap is exposed. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

If the leak is at the top, it should be a small leak, is it the case? _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

I pulled the tank, then pulled the cap.
I cannot determine even where the coolant leaked from.
I am going to stop by Morton's and hopefully pick up two new gaskets for the cap. I will replace the coolant, crank her up and hopefully find out that all is well. _________________ Older but not old

Turns out the culprit was a loose fitting. More accurately hose fitting came off. If you look inside the right side fairing grill you can see the junction. The hardest part of the repair is replacing the coolant... Poor and wait, Poor and wait, Poor and wait. But I am not complaining. _________________ Older but not old

Man, I really try to be a responsible writer. I am so ashamed. I will have to drown my embarrassment in some ...... Beer. Yes, that is just the ticket to redemption. _________________ Older but not old
