Okay, so now the 95K11LT looks like the 96 K11LT parts bike: after putting the carbtune on it, found major disparities not correctable by adjusting the screws.

So we tore it down and while it's apart, we want to replace everything that we can while we're in there.

My problem is this: I can't find virtually any of the parts I need on realoem fiches so that I can place a parts order with the right numbers.

What do I need?

1. The air leaks appear to be from the throttle body vibration isolation rubber gaskets beneath the TBs, so I need to replace them.

2. While I'm in there, the four hoses from the airbox to the TBs could stand to be replaced.

3. The two oil recirculation hoses--from the crankcase to the airbox and then from the condenser unit in the airbox to the crankcase--should be replaced; we cut the intake line.

4. Between the fuel injector bodies and the crankcase there are o-rings; should be replaced while we're in there.

5. And then there's a rubber hose from the bottom of the airbox to the crankcase.

6. An itty-bitty piece missing is the plate covering the coils on the left side beneath the power outlet.

About the only things I can order from the fiches at the moment are the hose clamps and a new throttle cable (Thanks, Shogenai)

So my questions are two-fold: what on the above list can simply be supplied by commonly available parts (e.g., the o-rings beneath the FI bodies and crankcase, or the hoses recirculating through the airbox) and for those things like the hoses from the airbox to the TB, how do I find them?

This is an education: I'm thinking that by the time it's completed, I'll be too old to ride the bikes but I might have this one refined and the parts bike up and running too.

Thanks

Larry, it sounds like you are about to do what I did to my '95 last year: replace all the rubber parts/pieces that have aged and cracked/leaking.
I'll lookup my purchasing invoice so I can give you all the part #'s of what I replaced.

I got all of my parts from Max's, they have a very good parts breakdown. I think alot better that Realoem. JMO

Thanks, folks. The MaxBMW fiches are more useful.

That takes care of the 0-rings and what I call the vibration isolators but are described as "bushings" beneath the TBs and above the intake manifold.

I'm not sure that I want to spend $240 for a full new top air box. The hoses from the box to the TBs are hardening but not leaking.

As for the recirculating hoses from crankcase to airbox and back, is there any reason why I just couldn't get standard hoses from the local NAPA cut to length?

As I said, this has been an education: I'd been riding, obvliviously, since the early 80's but never have gotten this far into the innards of a bike.
The K12 is sitting dumb, fat and happy in the garage; the K11's (and the K75) now are giving me that education.

Thanks again to all.

Instead of using those dumbass Oeticker clamps, I use these narrow hose clamps from McMaster-Carr:

http://www.mcmaster.com/#order-history/=bbi8tj

#6: The coils are exposed from the factory. I made my own covers (2 actually) from sheet aluminum and had them powder coated in black:

For a K1100 I sold I made one out of some black ABS plastic that I had left over from another project.

The bent looking hose directly out of the top of the airbox are not individually replaceable.

Some have done away with those hoses as the filter in the air box has deteriorated to the point of being useless.
Here are 2 of the hoses that I replaced in that area.
13311461971 HOSE 0.13 1 @ $11.97
This hose is the one that fits on the rear of the TB's

I also replaced all 8 of the injector o-rings while I had them out.
13641730767 O-RING - 7,52X3,53 8 @ $3.93

I basically replaced anything that was rubber from the fuel lines to the radiator cap gaskets to the radiator coolant hoses, oil fill cap o-rings, etc.....

One of them, I don't remember which one has a molded "fitting end" inside the air box and installs from the "inside-out"

Most any of the regular vac hoses should be generically replaceable.

All of your inputs are invaluable, and I thank you.

Now I have another question: we pulled the injectors and they looked dirty (the bike has 35K on it). Should I send them off for a rebuild, and if so where? or should I just replace the o-rings?

Thanks from your student to his professors.

If they are currently working, I'd just replace the o-rings and use some injector cleaner on a regular basis in the fuel.

Mine were close to 70K and I just replace the o-rings and put them back in.

I have also been using injector cleaner in the fuel on a regular basis to help clean them up/keep them clean.

If it's been sitting for a while then I'd send them off to Mr. Injector. Good prices, good work, free new O-rings and quick turn-around. Then you'll KNOW they're nice and clean.

Whatever you do don't buy injector O-rings from BMW - total ripoff for a generic part.
