Just saw this on "How it's made"
We are a world wide forum, right?
So I need to ask- who here has eaten Haggis? What does it taste like??
And did you know that there is vegetarian Haggis?
Gotta' know

Tastes like spicy meat. Like any sausage / pasty, it's often down to the makers preferred recipe. A Scotsman will be along soon to defend one of their national dishes. Ask them about the Golden Spurtle too. _________________ Regards Tim,

For those of us in the haggis-deprived USA, there is hope. I saw the article below in Jan, although it appears to be from last year, so maybe not so much movement on this hot political topic:

My SouthEast PA club (the Mac-Pac) has made Haggis runs down to a place in south Jersey. Some of our guys love the stuff. Me, not so much, but I tried it! _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Haggis Rocks! best served with tatties and neeps (mashed potatoes and mashed swede) and a fine glass of your favourite single malt
IMHO

So, I stand corrected- looks like the consensus is positive.
Just don't look at how it's created
But then again LOTS of good tasting food would be much less appealing if we saw "How it's made"

Black pudding, otherwise known as blood sausage, is a dark sausage stuffed with animal blood seasoned and cooked with fillers such as bits of meat, suet, oats, or barley and congealed until solid. Various cuisines around the world incorporate versions of black pudding. The fillers, seasonings, and type of animal blood used vary according to regional tastes and local availability.
As long as animals have been slaughtered for food, there has been the desire to maximize the usefulness of the carcass. Homer’s Odyssey contains a reference to a sausage-like victual consisting of a stomach packed with blood and fat and roasted over a fire. This reference is nearly three thousand years old.
Black pudding is extremely popular in England and Ireland. In northern England, the humble black pudding even has a festival dedicated in its honor: the World Black Pudding Throwing Championships, wherein participants sling black puddings in an effort to knock Yorkshire puddings off a stack. British black pudding is generally made with pig’s blood mixed with pork fat and oatmeal or barley. It is traditionally served as part of a full breakfast, but it has become popular as a fried item in fish-and-chip shops. _________________ ******************************

Haggis...Bllearrgh. Although the veggie ones are quite nice.
Black pudding..another Blleaargh. Imagine eating a handfull of iron filings and that is what it tastes like to me.
Yorkshire pud. Yum. My grandmother (who has not been with us for many years) made Yorkshire puds the size of the dinner plate and filled with gravy. Pure heaven.
Cheers.

Black and White pudding used to be available in South Africa many years ago...they were kept in SEPERATE fridges... these days we only get the darker variety _________________ ******************************

Toad in the hole has nothing to do with frogs, toads, holes, or the postal service. Just another brit "delicacy"

Our version of Toad in the Hole is a bit simpler, frying pan, butter, slice of bread, tear a 2" hole in the middle of the bread, stick in frypan, crack egg into hole in bread, fry both sides till bread is toasty. yum. _________________ K1100RS '97
