Had the bike MOT'd and the guy doing the test was about to fail it as he couldnt get the rear stop light to work.
It was only with the engine running the brake light functioned.
Is that the way it works or is it a tad quirky??
The examiner said " never seen that before?"
To which my retort was " Ive bet you've never seen Santa it dont mean he aint real!"
Thoughts please fellow K11OG ers _________________ K1100LT SE ABS- MYSTIC RED - 1996

Sidestand up, kill switch set to on, key on - the brake light should work. _________________ Jim

That brings up a good topic/slight detour.
How many here use the kill switch on a regular basis? I personally can't remember the last time I used it to switch the engine off. I use the key switch. _________________ John & Cathy

I usually use the sidestand followed by, when I get unplugged and dismounted etc, the key. Kill switch only gets used if I am stuck in non-moving traffic for a lengthy period. _________________ David, owner of:

Always out of habit. In my early days at the end of a long day I occasionally dumped the clutch while in gear before I got to the key. It just became a habit I suppose.
Also, if you're a safety Nazi then it's your first instinct in a getoff and easier/quicker than they key. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I always use it to kill the engine - then I wonder why the damn bike won't start when I get back on it...
Back to the thread - when I take the bike to get it inspected, the brake light invariably doesn't work - because the sidestand is down, or the kill switch is set to off... _________________ Jim
