|
|
Hi, I have a problem with my 93 LTSE with ABS 1 blowing the fuse for the radio. I tried a new fuse and it blew instantly with the ignition off. I have a wiring diagram BUT I don't know where the wire(s) run. I am assuming under the petrol tank but can someone confirm that for me?
I'm fairly certain it's a direct short, but any help where to look would be appreciated. Also, if I need to take the radio out of the fairing pocket I noticed it is held in with pop rivets, is it just a simple head removal thats needed and then new rivets?
Oh, and it's the UK model.
Thanks! |

Radio removal can be found at this link.

I'd guess that's where your short is so that's the first place I'd look. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

| Thanks for that, but mine is held in differently. I can get the pocket out but the wires go in through 2 holes and the bottom of the radio (i.e. where the connections are) can't be seen. As I said, the mounting the radio plugs into is riveted to the plastic pocket. |

No, the clips that hold the outer face plate are riveted to the bucket. Look at your outer face plate and you will see the three holes for popping the clips. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Well, having spent about 5 hours sorting this I can say that we were both right and both wrong about the method the unit was secured by. Yes, it should have been as you said, but I was also right, as someone in the past had obviously had the unit out and then put it back in incorrectly, as the clips weren't actually installed the right way up and weren't actually doing anything!
Instead, the person had managed to use the tabs on the mounting to lock it into the box, using the upside down clips. Very bizarre!
However, the unit is now working and secured properly!
Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated. _________________ '93 K1100LTSE, ABS1 in Black 'Connie' |
