Hey Gang,

My battery finally died on me and i'm trying to find a more affordable replacement for Mystic Rose, my '97 K1100LTb. Aside from Odyssey ($$$), a reference to the Yuasa 51913 seems the most likely replacement.

I found this one on BatteryStuff.com as their replacement for the 51913.

YT51913-22 12v High Output AGM Powersport and Motorcycle Battery

Thanks for any feedback.

I for one, can highly recommend an AGM battery. Here in limey land an Exide retails at £60 ($120 ish).
Much better at keeping the ABS happy during cranking than a wet cell type

Thanks, Tim. The Exides and Odessey's here are upwards of $150 normally. Guess I'll go ahead and order this.

For anybody interested, I did order the battery here - http://www.batterystuff.com/powersports-batteries/sYT51913-22.html. Shipping was $5 and I received it in about two days. The battery was slightly taller than the last one (BMW battery), so I had to remove a cover (makeshift, I think) that was on top of the old battery. The standard cover and bolt down worked fine.

The bike has been running great since I replaced the battery. No more ABS lights, strong starting, and working well. The old battery had been going for a while, ABS lights failed to go out, and had a few starting problems even with regular charging.

It's not the high end option for the bike, but it should work as well as the old battery and probably as long. I think I replaced the old one back in '02 or '03.

Just ordered the same battery from a local M/C shop, Same price, but no shipping, so only a few dollars more after tax, but easier if there are any problems. Thanks to your reviews on it Kpilot..

I will post up my opinion on it also, that way others can see what they think..

Just a report on the scorpion battery,

I finally received it from the shop i bought it from, fit in the tray very well, the only problem i found (not really a problem) was the depth of the scorpion is about two inches less then the BMW battery for the bike, the height and the width is so close you don't even realize there is any difference.

So far i do notice the starting is stronger, but haven't had in in there long enough to see if there are any other problems, but the one nice thing about it is that it is sealed, so no more removing the electrical brain to get to it..

Will post up any other findings of it as time goes along.
