Hi,
New member here, just picked up a 1994 K1100lt which has been sitting for 6 years.
Removed tank to clean out old fuel and forgot to mark the position of the two small hoses that go 3mm spigots - rookie move!!
I'm guessing one is a fuel neck water drain and one is a vent that goes back to the crankcase.
But which is which?
Thanks!
BTW great site! |

I think most people here have got rid of both of those hoses and added the "air accumulator" as we're not really down with the idea of raw gas into the crankcase.
The air accumulator cup sits under both nipples and you attach the drain hose that drains down to the rear of the bike to it. Part #16132307467.

Looks like this.
Pretty spendy tho. $2.15 _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

+1
However, if you MUST know which is which, look at the fill area and find the drain hole. Pour a little water down that hole. Whichever spigot the water runs out of is the drain. The other spigot is the tank vent, the one BMW connected to the crankcase. _________________ Ride Safe,

I just connected the two together with some rubber hosing and a "T" fitting (from my drip irrigation system!) and connected that to the hose that runs down the right side of the bike and empties in front of the rear wheel. Probably not environmentally correct, but how much gas really ever goes down that tube, assuming you have the flapper still intact and don't overfill the tank. _________________ Steve

Majordomo - you'll want to look where the vent (not the rain drain) connects on the front of the engine and put a cap on the nipple. You can plug the hose, but the hose will eventually rot and leak. _________________ Jim
