Hello All,

My name is Michael from Covina, CA and I am new to the K11OG group. I am also new to owning a BMW which I purchased a few weeks ago. I have been riding motorcycles since I was 15 years old and I am past 50 now. Most of my riding was done in my teens and early 20ies but I have logged about 60K in the last ten years using two Honda PC800. A BMW was not what I expected to buy but I now have a white and black 1993 K1100LT with 87600 on it. It is by no means a new bike and I am slowly finding out what is wrong with it. Or at least the problems are showing up and I am looking for the answers. It looks like you guys have gone the distance with this model and know what they are about. I am trying to pick up pearls of wisdom because I like to work on my bike (or car) as much as I can or feel comfortable doing. Thanks for posting all your great info from the past.

Welcome Michael,

You will do fine with this bike. Post any questions in the tech section.

PM me if you ride up north. I'm in San Jose, CA.

Sanjiv

Michael, first of all........WELCOME!

Having come from riding a Pacific Coast, your "new" brick will have a bit more grunt in the power department.

As Sanjiv said, this group has LOTS of knowledge with these bikes- just ask.

Oh yeah- we wanna' see some pictures of your bike(s). Very Happy

John

Welcome Micheal, you've come to the right place, there isn't anything about K's that these guys don't know about.

I have saved countless hours (or is that spent?) of shop time with the collective knowledge here. It's pretty rare that someone here doesn't have an answer to almost any question.

Enjoy your K. I was almost going to buy a PC800 until I stumbled, quite by accident, on my K1100RS sitting forgotten in a local consignment shop. I had no idea what a K1100 even was until I saw my bike and did some research on it.

With age comes some annoying electrical gremlins, but once you get through the basic issues, they are great bikes and the engines will go forever. The '93's have some odd differences from the later ones, mostly carry over items from the K100's, like ABS I instead of ABS II, so just keep in mind some of the tech stuff might not apply, but most of it does. You're off to a good start by having your bikes year and model in the sig line, that way people can you give more specific advice.

Welcome again!

Thanks for the welcome. Can anyone tell me how to post a photo here? I'm not having any luck. I would imagine it has something to do with Img.
