Is it possible to buy a new glass for my VDO gauge ? this is for my fuel
level.
The glass or plastic is so scratched or marred unable to see thru it.

I had a similar problem with my temp gauge. I dripped brake fluid on it. (That stuff is EVIL)
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to get that lens out and gave up.
I ended up wet-sanding it with 2000 grit wet-dry sandpaper.
After the blemishes were smoothed out, I used polishing compound to buff it back to transparent.
I have done the same on bad windshield scratches with great results.

Any speedometer shop can replace the plastic with glass. They have a special tool for removing the bezel. A new bezel can be installed as well. Probably not all that expensive.

Hi

Somewhere along the cables you are getting a direct earth back to the instrument via the 'G' cable.

If you look at the back of the fuel gauge you should see (excluding the light) 3 terminals, marked as +, - and G. The + is an incoming supply, the - goes to the fuel tank sensor and the G connects to the other terminal on the tank sensor (normally the centre one).

If you disconnect the terminals on the tank sensor and measure the ohms you should get between 10-200 depending on fuel state. If OK then reconnect cables on sensor and disconnect on gauge , measure ohms on cables, should be the same as on sensor. I am assuming the earth contact for the sensor is OK?

Try this for starters, hope it is of some help.
