Hi, All,
Tomorrow (Wed.) I go to the hospital for lab work with surgery scheduled for Friday morning. Right now I feel great and just want to get this over with! The chemo ended with my being able to swallow much better than before, and the CT scan showed the thickening of the stomach lining was much reduced. And the colonoscopy I had last Friday showed there are no problems in the colon. So I'll be on line for the next couple of days, but surgery is Friday morning and my surgeon told me to expect to be in the hospital for 10 days. I doubt I'll have computer access while in the hospital. So even if I don't write anything, I'll still be thinking of you. And if anyone wants to do something old fashioned and send a card (I've already received a few - thanks, guys), my daughter's address is:
6518 Electra Dr.
Arlington, TX 76001.
Marian (daughter) has the phone numbers of two or three of you. I have no problem if you post what she tells you on the list for all to read. _________________ Ride Safe,

Good luck to you Phil. Will be sending good mojo your way. Hurry up and get well and your strength back, then climb back on your bike for a good long ride.

Hi, John,
I'm smiling!!! I'm smiling, not only because of all my friends here, but because I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. In 2 days I'll be in surgery and, when I come out, hope that this crap will all be behind me. _________________ Ride Safe,

Got a call from Phil's daughter an hour or so ago.
He is out of surgery, in recovery and waiting for a room.
Looks good so far. We'll have to hear from the big guy himself. _________________ John & Cathy

Thanks for the update, John. I'm sure Phil will grab a laptop in the next day or two and post an update. _________________ Jim

Just got a call from the man himself.
A bit doped up and groggy, as you would expect after someone rummages around in your internals.
But from what he could tell me the surgeon said that it went well and that the previous chemotherapy had done a good job.
Now he will have to wait and see what the lab report says about what was removed.
Phil isn't out of the wood yet, but each step gets him closer. Let's all continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers. _________________ John & Cathy

Good morning John...
Really GREAT to have this update, AND to know that 'the man' is alert, responding and doing well under the circumstances! I know most of us spent Friday with Phil in our thoughts and your direct contact is most assuring. THANK YOU !!

Just spoke to Phil as well. In pain but in good spirits in the Recovery Room minus one stomach. The fact that he is awake and talking is a good sign.
Thoughts and prayers, Phil. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006
