I have been spellbound by this event since I first discovered it on TV a few years ago. The Isle is absolutely stunning and the racing is far and away the most exciting thing I've ever seen. I've become a big Guy Martin fan and hope he wins one soon. I'm still amazed that Conor Cummins is racing again after his brutal crash in 2010. Some day I have to get there.

Hi guy's,

As John as mentioned I have made a few trips over to the Island over the years, myself and a mate had the tickets for the ferry and holidays booked from work in 1966 but unfortunately the seamen decided to go on strike right at that time, and the TT was delayed and run in September just before the MGP so we never made it over that year.

So 1968 was the first year that Gill and I did the TT and witnessed the epic battle between one of my all time hero's Bill Ivy and the devious Phil Read, the memory of Little Bill storming around the mountain circuit on his 125cc & 250cc works Yamaha's will be imprinted in my memory for the rest of my life.

I did the TT every year from then until 1983 apart from 1976 when our daughter Marie was born and again in 1980 when our son Darren was born, those years I had to do my husbandly duties, but from 1971 until 1983 ( we emigrated to NZ in 1984 ) I did all the Manx GP's, which is in September.

After emigrating to NZ, the first time I managed to get back to the Island was 1997 when Gill and I did a 3 month trip back to the UK and of course did the TT and I also did the MGP, the next time was 2003 on my own, then 2007 Gill and I did a 4 month trip to the UK and did the Centenary TT and again I did the MGP in September, again on my own, I was then over for the 2009 TT and finally this year, 2011 over for the Centenary of the Mountain circuit.

The most out standing year for me of any of the years that I went to the Island has to be 1978 with the return of the greatest motorcycle racer of ALL time, Mike Hailwood, the Island was filled to capacity and over flowing with an atmosphere that you could swim in, it was truly amazing that one man could have that effect on a 2 week sporting event which is now one of the great motorcycle legends and moments.

Other years that stand out are 1969- the first 100 MPH lap by a production bike, 1977- the arrival of Joey Dunlop,- 1979 the last year of Mike Hailwoods return, when he won the Senior TT in great style, and the 2007 Centenary TT, 'but hey', any time on the Isle of Man is just magical and I need only a heartbeat to be back over to get my road racing fix and to meet up with old friends.

The only thing I will add is that everybody who as any interest at all in motorcycling must do the Isle of Man TT races once in their life, but be WARNED, it is a VERY addictive place and thing to do
