So I'm heading over to Sunnyvale California in July for our stupid sales conference. Just found out I'll be there earlier so have an afternoon off. Can someone tell me how far this is from Sunnyvale?

Drikko,
I would not recommend a cab (estimate over $100) and a waste of time sitting in traffic.
Suggest you take the local train (called CalTrains) into SanFrancisco. Within San Francisco you can walk / bus / cab depending on your preference. Google maps gives you door-to-door directions (click on the public transport icon).
Another option is to rent a bicycle (they are allowed on the trains & buses) and use them to get the last couple miles from where the public transport drops you off.

Just tried to stop in here for dinner and a drink, but it was closed (5:30 on Sunday afternoon). Lots of great bikes can be seen through the window. I'll try again the next time I'm in San Fran - and it's not a Sunday! _________________ Larry

I was back in San Francisco last week with work and went to Rickenbackers for dinner Friday evening. It was pretty busy when I arrived at 6:30 and getting pretty quiet when I left at 8:30. The menu was pretty limited, but food was simple but good. The place has real character! Beer was cold, barmaid was friendly and decor was unbelievable! Photo's are the view from my barstool and me (in my KOG t-shirt) infront of a 1915 Henderson 4. Worth the trip and I'll be back!

A shame is right- while some collectors regularly display and use their rare machines, I expect that many others are placed on a pedestal and might never see the light of day.
Watching the Goodwood Festival (on television, of course ) is really interesting. _________________ John & Cathy

I'm glad I got to experience this place before this was done. I spent a lot of time there when I did an internship in SF for a summer. I hope the old man is okay, although I would expect not based on the sale of the bar. He told me he spent over $1.5 million on just the bikes. I forgot how much he spent on the lamps. |
