O K, thanks for the tips & I've fixed almost all the problems (I knew about) on my new to me, '94 1100LT ABS & it's on the road now. Light warning and ABS warning was on. In the 2 years it had been setting the battery was bad causing the AS fault & it was easy to reset. Front brake switch was bad because of a pitted front brake reservoir leaked badly on it & I replaced the brake master cylinder & switch which fixed the light warning light and the dragging front brake. Disassembled the seat/helmet lock & repaired the broken seat latch. Now that it is rideable I find that the gas gauge looks to not be working (or it may be out of gas) but the big problem is that, as it sets, it's so tall I can barely get on it & when I do I can't set flat footed on it. It looks like there is an extra shock mounting hole. Is that hole (a little forward of the original top mounting hole) to be used to mount the shock so that the ride height is lower? Thanks, De

No, you can't use that hole for a shock mount! _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

That is not a additional shock mount, since it`s not a inside support for the bolt.
I think it`s shorter shocks available, and then you have to lower the fork in the yokes, to maintain the steering geometry.

Ram Shocks (do a search of this site, lots of posts) do a short shock.

I have a 29" insde leg (inseam) & can only just manage.
The best improvement I made, was to fit a Corbin seat, no lower, but narrower just behind the tank, which means when stationary, my little legs are nearer the ground as they aren't spread so far. As a bonus SWMBO feels safer & comfier too.
