When I did this job @ 92K on my paralever K, I found that the BMW Factory shop manual in PDF was very helpfull. (i think is is about 11MB) and you can find it here somewhere. (If you have trouble, shoot me a PM and i will send you a link) I found a DS + trans (rebuilt) on eBat for uder $400. delivered. - 15K later all good.
I used the Honda Moly lube. P. Glaves likes a blend of Wurth + the Honda. Make sure you (Phase the U-joints)
what else.... I guess you found the painted alignment marks on your clutch disc & Pressure plate... take pixs as you go.
I did the swing arm bearings but it was a PITA =heat gun + profanity
My only regret is that I did not replace the FD with a musterd unit I found from a K1 for taller gears.
Good luck... _________________ Tom Connolly

Impact wrenches are your friend! Had the clutch nut off in seconds using a borrowed impact wrench. However, it looks like I'm getting the full monty with this job. Question- Do the following pics indicate a rear seal leak or is the oil supposed to be in that area?
I feel like I'm living Gwen's post!
PS- pic size should be coming down. Don't know why but when they're first posted they are full size and then eventually change to the size I have them in photobucket. Go figure _________________ 1995 K1100 LT

As long as all the oil is behind the seal all is OK (its meant to be there). You would have found traces of oil behind the flywheel if the seal was leaking. _________________ '99 K11LT |
