I have run 3 tanks through the LT now & am curious as to the expected fuel range i can expect. I am getting about 295km before the fuel light comes on, using 95 RON @ 70 % highway speed (100kph) & 30% 50kph-80kph. Each time i have only refilled with 15 litres . I have noticed the needle does fluctuate on the gauge a bit , upon inspection prior to refilling to the naked eye it does look very empty. Not really worried from a consumption point of view as i'm very happy with the bike, i'd just like to know what to expect when touring |

Seems the fuel light activation may vary a bit from bike to bike; mine comes on with quite a bit to spare. I really don't notice the distance when it comes on, as the gauge shows well over the red section when the light comes on.
The real test is in the actual fuel consumption Mine is averaging just over 5.5 l/100km and that is probably 90% city riding. _________________ David, owner of:

I am thinking of putting a 5L fuel bottle in the city pannier & just running it dry to establish a base line . While on the the subject of mileage, when i reset the trip meter, it only zero's out the 100/10 km reading when i refuel leaving whatever the single digit kilometer reading is at the time. Not really a problem , just a curio i suppose |

I cannot recall if you posted that your bike has had a flapperectomy?
More fuel space and easier to see into the tank when refueling. _________________ John & Cathy

I get about 50 miles per gallon if I can keep it under 80 miles per hour. The most that I can recall ever putting in the bike is just over 4.5 US gallons. I didn't do the Flapperectomy. I normally start looking for filling stations at about the 200 mile mark on my trip meter. Something about the trip meter, if it doesn't reset all the numeral, try giving the knob another spin around to see if that works.
One other thing that you might want to be aware of is that when the tank gets low, the fuel pump begins to make kind of a "mewling" sound. I'd thought that most of them do this, but don't quote me.
Also, I think that the low fuel warning lamp activation can be manipulated slightly by tweaking something inside the fuel tank...if you were so inclined. _________________ Jade

Excellent result ! My K1100RS can get up to 8l /100km in the city and I happy with 6l/100km in country roads.
