|
|
For those of you that don't know, I just purchased my 103K mile K a week or so ago, it's a 93.
I was looking through the maintenance booklet, and found the original owner listed in the front. From the records, I could see he only rode it for one year, and sold it. His phone number was listed, and local, so I called it. Lo and behold, his girlfriend answered. I left a message and he called back.
He was thrilled to hear that I had his old bike, some 18 years later and that it was still going strong after all that time and all these miles.
We talked for over an hour, and I found out that the reason he sold it, is because his back went out, and he wasn't able to ride for quite some time. I invited him to come to my bike shop and reunite with it.
He came yesterday! I let him know he was more than welcome to take it for a ride, his eyes lit up, and off he went. He came back after half an hour or so, and you could see it meant quite a lot to him.. he tried to buy it back! haha... nope, couldn't go that far.
Anyway, I thought it was a neat story to share with you folks. _________________ I am: Andrew Stanford

Would like to find the orginial owner of my 1995 K1100RS, bought it in 2005 from the second owner, bike was 10 years old with 25,000km, almost broke in. Here we sit seven years later , pushing over 70,000 km's, use it for free time, week-ends and holidays. Would take a whole lot to give that bike up. Have bought a R1150RT (2002) since then, never once thought it was time the K left. _________________ 1995 K1100RS

I bought mine from a bloke I met at an Easter Egg run for under priveledged kids in 2006. See him twice a year, Easter & Christmas (toy run) Last Xmas he was back on a silver K1100LTSE bought for a song with only 22K miles. Asked him if mine was still under warranty _________________ Regards Tim,

I bought my 95 LT from my Dad. He is the original owner. Talk about knowing the history of a bike. We are doing a 1600 mile weekend in a few weeks. We'll switch bikes a few times. His Harley just isn't as comfy. _________________ 1995 K1100LT-current
