Is it possible to get the gear change lever to the right hand side and the brake lever to the left? Screwed together left ankle giving some trouble and dont want to change the bike.

Anythnig is possible given enough motivation, time and money.

If the bike is using a rear disk, I would thing relocating the rear MC would be straight forward. You might have to build your own rearsets or brake lever pivot.

As for gear change, it might be solved using a jack shaft under the frame. The shift pedal transfers motion through the jack shaft to the opposite side of the bike and into the transmission. Will need some clever engineering so that you get the proper 1-Down 4-Up shifting pattern.

Thanks Robert,

Have been pointed in the direction of an engineer today who does adaptations to bikes. Hopefully he can sort something out.

Thanks again

For the shifter, one of the sidecar guys ( A paraplegic) has an electric shifter on his Hayabusa, A solenoid connects to the sfift lever, has two buttons on the right grip, one for up shift, another for down.

Heard he had a similiar setup on a T-Rex.

Also once saw a HD sidecar rig with an air operated shifter, but that required an air compressor and tank mounted in the sidecar.

Not sure who makes them, but I think they're mainly for the drag race bikes.

Good Luck

Thanks Mike,
All this sounds expensive. Think I will just put both feet down when I stop and get a pair of boots with more support for the time being. Cheers

The early 900 iron head sportsters had swapped controls (but kick only) & hate to say it (well not really) Very Happy But Yamaha made an A E model on the FJR1300. Where you don`t need to use the foot shift at all , just thumb & finger for up & down shifts.

Oh ! by the way cool name (my first name too)
