Got an early start Sunday morning for my ride/hike. It was misty at the house and that made the first part a bit unpleasant.
My visor needed to be wiped every few minutes and I had thought of turning back and getting my car. In Amherst, The misting stopped and the fun factor went way up.

When I got to James River Park, the place was empty. I paid my $3 and headed for the trail head.

The visitors center was closed, but the had some displays around the back.

There are three ponds in the park.

The James river is the focal point.

Near the end of the hike, there is an amazing view point. The Tye rive meets the James - you can see the water color difference.
Way in the background, you can see two peaks I want to visit - The Priest and Three Ridges.

They have cabins for rent during the Spring, Summer and Fall. Some of them have views of the river below.

After the hike, it was sunny and around 50*F. I did a loop the took me on some empty roads. I laugh like a school boy whenever I say Wingina.

There are big sections of clear cut land in Buckingham county. Some of it is very ugly, but this pact wasn't too bad.

The tiny town of Rockfish!

After reading the quote on the Walton Museum webpage,"CAUTION FOR THOSE DRIVING RT 29 NORTH: the 1st Schuyler sign is an extreme country road", I just had to ride on that road!
I thought the road was great, but I wouldn't want to be on it in the snow - even in a car. Overall, it was a fun day. Goodnight K11 group. Very Happy [/url]

Thanks for taking us along.

THAT'S what the ground looks like without all this white stuff, eh?

Thanks guys! I forgot to add a detail. Just after I left the Walton place, my fuel light can on. The road had lots of up, down and turns, which made it hard to tell how much fuel I really had. It's a long way to anyplace from there so I turned around to go back to the station I saw. Got to the pump and they only had regular and diesel! I put in a gallon of regular and the gauge went to half a tank. How many miles do most people go once the light comes on?

I've gone 40 without running out, but I was freaking out. Probably need to take a gallon along and just run it out to get an idea.
