I stepped in some mud and while putting my bike on the center stand, my foot slipped. Bummer. Slow motion fall while I watched. Just a small scrape on the mirror and one of the cases. I had wondered if I'd be able to pick it up, so at least I know I can do that. _________________ Kervin

Glad to hear you did not get hurt when it went over, or when you picked itt up. I've dumped mine when stopped, & my foot went down on loose gravel, or dirt. Dumped mine while moving slowly when front wheel hit a narrow rut or pot hole. _________________ No matter where you go, there you are. |

Sorry to hear that Kervin, she is a heavy beast once it gets going over about 15 degrees.
I set her down twice in my driveway at slow mo speeds like you, but I had to get a neighbor to help me lift it, couldn't quite get it back up on my own or thought I might damage it more.
Shiny side up! _________________ Steve

On trips I carry an extra nylon strap to tie on frame if I have to lift it alone. I find its hard when loaded to get a grip. Last thing I want to do is hurt myself picking it up, or the bike. _________________ 93 K1100LT

Wonder how many folks here can honestly say that they have never dropped their K bike.
Not me. Last time (there have been a few) was at Hungry Mother 2 years ago.
BTW, be sure to check the hinges on the bottom of the bag that hit the ground. They tend to crack on impact but may only fail at a later date. _________________ John & Cathy

I can honestly say I haven't, but I did drop the Lav a while ago, right in front of the Saturday arvo crowd at the local pub much to their amusement. Mind you there were plenty of helpers to get it back up, it's a heavy fucker!!! _________________ K1100RS '97

Well, those of you at Hungry Mother last year saw the results of my parking lot drop on the way up. _________________ 1995 K1100 LT

Thanks Gwen! I'll let you know if I need some help. I did a ride past you in January to Wildcat Mountain via Rixeyville road. No Hungry Mother for me, I'll be working.
SugarHill, I just replaced the hinges last month and they seem ok.
carp, it was much easier to pick up than I thought it would be. Those years of wood splitting came in handy!
Steve, I think I just need to wipe my feet next time. _________________ Kervin
