Is there supposed to be some sort of stop that keeps the handle bars from turning to far right and prevents the hollow bolt on the master cylinder from hitting your tank? Damhik! Never had this happen before.

Hmm, must have had one to many beers. I'm not finding it.I'll look closer tomorrow. However, I did notice that the rubbers(hose) on the bottom support clamp (#3)are trashed causing some play in the handlebars. I'll try the garden hose trick on that tomorrow. Inge, I'm a visual kind of guy. Can you point me to a photo or fiche diagram?

ok, I think I found where it is suppose to be. Clymers manual page 371 figure 64 shows a tab with a bolt or threaded rod just above the lower bearing. If this is it my bolt is missing. Anyone know the size and length?

Is this what I'm looking for? The hole doesn't appear to be threaded.
What did we do before cameras on our phones?

On the 75/100 models it was mounted a steel ball on each side of this hole on
the fairing equipped models......to limit the travel of the handlebar.

I'm not that shure about the K11's....could have a look in the shed tomorrow.

If you are hitting the fuel tank with anything that is part of your handle bars, they are rotated too far downward.

When I first got my '95, there was a mark(chip) in the tank paint where the brake line banjo bold had been hitting it.
The previous owner to me rotated the bars up as the banjo bolt was hitting the tank when he bought the bike.

Thanks Scott, that makes sense. I replaced the front tire yesterday and maybe I got a little carried away when I pumped the front forks to seat the axle in the fork tubes. Embarassed See you at HM!

+1

On the K1 there is a part that goes in the holes to limit the travel (therefore the turning radius is wider on the K1).

well, that was any easy fix. 2 of the 4 bolts holding the handle bar were only finger tight and the other 2 couldn't have been any where near proper torque. Live and learn. Thanks guys!
oh, anyone got some pearl white touch up paint? Embarassed Rolling Eyes

David,

The OEM paint on our bikes is Glasurit.

If you really want to match it, check out this old thread:

http://k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8782&highlight=glasurit

Otherwise, if a near match is OK with you (like I did) take one of your side covers into a large auto parts store and check out the touch-up paint selection.

John

John, the bike does not have the original paint job and there are so many variations on a white pearl. Besides, after I dropped it last year this little nick is not that big a deal. However, I think Drikko might be on to something. Laughing

Bwahaha......

I unscrupulously swept up the LAST of the K11OG stickers from Saltcreek's careful possession.

But I will bring them with me to HM.
