I'm the original owner of a 1996 BMW K1100LT with 159,000 miles. About 5,000 miles ago, I started experiencing cutting out problems. With the help from this website, I was able to diagnose the problem as a hall sensor. It replaced the sensor and the problem was solved.

Last fall, a new problem surfaced. When rolling to a stop with the throttle off at deceleration, the bike would occasionally stall at idle. Otherwise, it ran fine.

I have replaced the 02 sensors and Halls Sensor on my two other BMWs and it didn't display the poor running conditions associated with this problem. So, I narrowed it down to a week check valve in the original fuel pump leaking down causing the stalls and harder starts.

So, I purchased from Euro Motoelectrics in Denver a new fuel pump kit as a direct replacement. Euro Motoelectrics states on their website, “New check valve prevents pressure leak down; ensures quick starts and on stalls.” Once installed, I noticed easier starts, smoother running and no more stalls. It frankly feels like a better than a new motor since the motor no longer has the buzz at certain RPMs (gone since 80,000 miles) and has great acceleration. After 1,000 miles, there have been no stalls. Easy fix for under $200.
