I am picking up a 1994 k1100lt with only 11000 miles. The only thing is the radio needs to be reset after a battery disconnect. He used to take it to a dealer each spring but I don't have that option. Anyone how to do this? Thanx

It's not hard to do at all if you have the four digit code. I've heard that you can get the code if you have the serial number of the radio. Without the code you're out of luck.

Link to PDF of radio manual:

Supposedly some dealers can look it up from your bike's VIN.

If you can't get the code from a dealer then there's a UK firm that can help you for $10 or so. You need to take it apart slightly.and count some solder bridges for them to figure out the code but I've used them twice with good results.

Radio code was prob on a card in the plastic folder with the owner's manual and maintenance books. Mine was also written inside the top case.

A dealer should be able to give you the code. Someone here poster that MAX BMW did it for them after they faxed a copy of the registration, serial number for the radio and a driver's license.

Thanx guys. After I found the manual inside the compartment behind the seat i started to go through the manual. Inside that were the maintenance books. In that was the card with the code. I followed the instructions of turning the radio on then entered the code with the corresponding radio presets and it came to life. Thanx again,
Mike

When I bought my LT the seller told me the radio was no good but it turned out it was just the security code. Not bad for me since I got an extra $100 off the price for the "defunct" radio.
