A year ago I did a look online and Hexcode had an adapter for their GS-911 code reader. Now they have a three pin connector that will read the ECU codes for the 2.1 and 2.2 bikes, ABS-2, and later. Looks like for my 93 it only reads the 2.1.

Anybody have one? What do you think about it?

I'd be curious to read anyone's K11-based thoughts on it as well. Specifically I wonder if it can be used to activate the ABSII pump when bleeding brakes. Aside from that use I haven't been intrigued enough to spend that kind of money on it given my only owning one BMW currently.

I have a GS911 but I don't use it on the K1100 because I don't have the cable. They doubled the price of the cable about a year ago . Shocked I was ready to buy one until I saw the price jump. I bought the GS911 at the MOA rally in Oregon. The guy from Hexcode was there and he was very informative I asked allot of questions about getting one and using it on a K bike. The guy from Hexcode said he wouldn't recommending buying one just for a K bike. You can read engine and ABS (I think) fault codes but that is all it can do. You can't look at sensor output or test/activate systems data log or any of the other cool features of the unit. The Motronics in the K doesn't support any of that. I may spring for cable some day but for now I read fault code the old fashion way. I bought the GS911 for my GS.
Cheers,

A year ago you bought a GS911 and had to get an adapter cable. Now they have a three pin reader for the older bikes. It plugs into a computer like an ABS Amigo to read codes and such. Looking at the application chart for a 93 it only reads and clears ECU codes, 94 and above it does ABS as well.

They sell them for $99 on eBay, might grab one next time my paypal account builds up.

Thanks to the IRS I have a windfall, so I bought the new three pin code reader. Reading their table it will read ECU codes on my '93, but not the ABS.

I'll bring it and a laptop to HM if anyone wants to try it out.

Well, it WORKS! Arrived today and installed software. On my '93 it will read ECU info, read fault codes, clear codes, and assist in TPS adjustment.

Not only did the bike still have the blue plug cover, it was still taped to the wiring harness like it had never been used.

It gave me codes 1122 and 1133 which are the Hall sensor, normal if the bike isn't running.

The TPS has a beep tone and as you open the throttle it stops.

This is software version 1503.1 and says it covers:
1994 - 1999 K1100LT
1994 - 1994 K1100RS
1991 - 1992 K100RS
1990 - 1993 K1

But yes, I'm guessing it will read any 3-pin BMW with a 2.1 or 2.2 ECU or ABS2.

I'll bring it to HM in April with a laptop if anyine wants to try it out.
