|
|
Hey Guys :
I found a 96 RS at a reasonable price, not far from me ,,, Just wondering if all they are basically the same and parts from my 93RS will fit on the 96RS, or what may be different , I have read that the alternator and ABS brakes were upgraded after 93,, I am also wondering if the calipers are compatible .If I get the 96 I would like to change the body parts out from the red it is to the black which my present ride is,,
Your thoughts please.
Thanks : Hilton |

Should be just fine.
The only changes are:
'93 and before ABS-I
'94 and after ABS-II
but the brake lever and the calipers are the same.
Your '93 might have the 33 or the 50 amp alternator (opinions vary as to exactly when the upgrade hit the assembly line)
Otherwise everything else from one bike should fit on the other. _________________ John & Cathy

In this thread you can see the changes on the LT, most of this was also done on the RS.
Main differences is that the RS did have a 50A alternator from the start, and the later frame (and the changes related to this). |

I do not know if you bought that 96 yet.
I tried to switch the fuel tanks from a 93 and 94 K1100LT but the frame was different on the 93. The 94 tank would not fit properly on the 93LT.
Maybe they did not change the RS frame. _________________ 97 K1100LT

JMHO but I much prefer the solid, non-adjustable earlier front brake lever. One of the first things I did to my 94 RS was swap in the older solid brake lever.
YMMV... _________________ 93 LT (x2)
