|
|
Hi
Beeing a bit crazy can't resist trying to ride on snow / ice on K11LT after some seasons riding my K1100LT/SE on gravel with touring tires.
PS: We are allowed to ride / drive with spikes on public roads.
Any recomendations? |

Recommendation? Yes, move somewhere warmer where there is no ice. I'd look for a enduro tire with the thickest possible tread, then take them to a tire shop and have them studded.I would also look for a used front and back wheels with rotors and such, just because winter will be harsh and hard on them.
Around here even with armor gear and studded tires I wouldn't do it, because its not you it's the other guy that you have to trust in their ability to drive on ice. And, I don't. _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

I wouldn't either.
An LT is way heavy to try and keep upright if you are standing on snow/ice with your feet.......
Now if you had a side car on it........... _________________ Ride safe.

I remember riding my Yamaha 175 on ice as a teenager. I also remember going from upright to down in milliseconds. It was no longer fun. I would recommend against it. Do it with a light bike if you have to. _________________ 93 K1100LT

Meh... Those guys over there are tougher than we are here. They have their tires studded and ride all year round - snow, ice, whatever... _________________ Jim
