I followed Flying Ducks directions and installed the relay with the diode in-line with the neutral light . Works very well .

THANKS so much for your time F.D. Now I will ride to Daytona and give the bike a good shakedown before riding season comes back to New England.

One option is to utilise the defunct yellow light as a stand indicator.

I am already using the yellow light as a "cruise control engaged" indicator.

But I have always liked FD's use of a separate, dedicated side stand down light.

I guess it just took BMW some time to adopt what is on the new-to-me '09 R-RT. It will idle with the SS down as long as the bike is in neutral. SS down and place it in 1st and the engine is cut off.

Wow, this thread is old.

On some of my bikes I've since added a cheap flasher relay so that the BMU light flashes if the side stand is down.
