Hi Everyone, I have a quick question.

Has anybody ever replaced the ribbed rubber intake pipes that go from the top of the airbox to the throttle bodies? I'm talking about the red highlighted, un-numbered component in the image attached.

I've found a couple of cracks there today, and after a brief browse online cant seem to find it as a 'piece' (for example like the bushing that is a little further down the pipe, No.5).

What would you do? just find something similar and replace? As usual BMW want crazy money, and only sell as a whole (part No.7).

Many thanks,
Jason

Wrap it with rescue tape?

In the US I'd probably try to find a used low mile one on Ebay. Maybe you could find one on Euro ebay where shipping would be reasonable.

You could do worse than contacting Moorworks in UK. I have used them many times and they have nearly always been abke to help me out with used items that are in a fully operational state.

They give a full 6 month guarantee in Uk but not so sure about over seas. Actually their prices are very reasonable considering the price of new items.

www.motorworks.co.uk

They still seem to be in the dark ages with regard to making contact they ask for a phone call fax or an enquiry form:-

Call us on 0845 458 0077 or +441484 353600

Phone lines open 9:00am - 12:30pm and 1:30pm - 5:30pm Monday to Friday

Send a fax to 01484 353604

Fill in one of our contact forms:
Parts Enquiry Form
Existing Order Enquiry Form
Feedback Form

But for all that they are a decent company to deal with and their knowledge about BMW bikes is usually very good..

Good call RE Motorworks. You can order used parts online. The entire upper air box with all the “elephant” trunking is £24. I just ordered some secondhand hand intake manifolds from them today. Great people to deal with.

...in the end i just cleaned the 'trunk' and used self-vulcanizing silicone tape to seal the whole part. So far seems to work - but not sure how long it'll last with heat from the engine.
